Talent demand rises in IT, telecom and healthcare sectors by 1% in January 2016 while BFSI and BPO, ITeS rose 2% during Jul-Dec 2015

February 16, 2016: Demand for IT, telecom, healthcare, travel & hospitality professionals has gone up in the economy, with all these sectors reporting increased hiring activity in January 2016, shows latest TimesJobs RecruiteX data.

Among top recruiting industries, healthcare posted a 2% rise and IT, telecom saw a 1% rise in talent demand. Hiring in travel & hospitality also grew by a significant 3%.

Among key functional areas, doctors, nurses and medical professionals saw the highest (16%) rise in demand.

CXO level and senior professionals with over 20 years of experience reported a substantial 28% jump in demand during January 2016.

Among top hiring locations, Chennai performed the best with a 16% rise in talent demanded in January 2016.

Hiring trends from July-Dec 2015

Recruitment data from the second half of 2015 shows that BPO, ITeS and BFSI sectors were the biggest employment generators (a 2% increase in hiring activity) indicating that the government’s job creation initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India, Smart Cities and Skill India have started showing results. Overall talent demand index during H2 2015 was stable.

As the e-commerce business expanded in Jul-Dec 2015, more jobs were created along the way. Technology, engineering, sales, business development, quality control and marketing professionals remained in high demand.

Hiring also increased for core functions, especially engineering and technology professionals.

The emerging profiles in the second half of 2015 were product engineers, design & development engineers, quality engineers, content writers and digital marketers.

Among metros, Bengaluru topped the demand chart followed by Mumbai and Delhi NCR during Jul-Dec 2015. Metros also took the maximum job share and saw increased hiring, especially for middle and senior-level positions.

Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Kerala and some North-Eastern states also witnessed rise in talent demand during Jul-Dec 2015, though job share in these states was small.
