Needhi Lazara – Head of Human Resources (Times Business Solutions )

“Needhi holds a Bachelor Degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relation from University of Delhi and is an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur. She heads the Human Resources department. She has earlier worked for over a decade across sectors – Service, Automotive and Banking. For her – Each day is about experimenting & creating new things… raising the bar… doing things better and better… not becoming complacent ever… not letting Good be the enemy of Great.”

It has always been our endeavour to be a strategic business partner, a catalyst for change, driving excellence & supporting TBS to continue being the Best Place To Work. Every day at TBS Human Resources, it is about exploration and reinvention with the focus on how to deliver the best user experience for all our employees – current, ex and prospective.

I read in an anonymous quote – “What you DO TODAY is important because YOU are exchanging a DAY of YOUR LIFE for it”. This has stayed with me and I attempt to make the Best of everyday.

I have also realized, in all these years, that learning should never stop, and unlike the conventional belief – learning comes only with experience, I believe that if one is open to learning, even a stranger crossing the road can teach so much. I learn the most from my team…young kiddies (as I lovingly call them)… their enthusiasm is contagious… they have helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Coming to the work front… As Confucius rightly said – “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”. I am blessed…I love my job. Each day is about experimenting & creating new things… raising the bar… doing things better and better… not becoming complacent ever… And not letting Good become the enemy of Great.

I have immense respect for the organization for encouraging people to take risk and for being tolerant of their failures. TBS has provided me an environment where I have learnt how to fail fast and learn from mistakes and move on with the learnings. We value demonstrated performance which has helped us to create a Meritocracy culture.

I believe, that in order to be a true business partner, it is first important to understand the business landscape and its external environment, which helps to prioritise processes that act as enabler and makes HR proactive.

We have fun at work. We live the Fish Philosophy, at TBS, through the 4 principles – Be There;  Make Their Day; Choose Your Attitude and Play, which are knitted in all our Employee Engagement initiatives.

In my leisure time, I love to spend time with my pet Viva –a Cocker Spaniel…there is so much to learn even from him. I love exploring new things & places – musical plays, stand-up comedy, water sports, eating joints, live music….to name a few. I also find pottery very fascinating and it is next on my exploratory list.
